Previous winners’ Talk:

Winner 2003
Best Cleaned Premises by a Contract Cleaning Company
– Offices Under 15,000 sqft Sector

Douglas Cooke of Principle Services in North London is a great supporter of The Golden Service Awards. His teams continue to be on a winning streak. Principle has won a category award for five years in succession – first in 2000 with the under 15,000 sq ft offices sector award, then 2001 for same category, in 2002 for Channing school, in 2003 in the offices under 15,000 sq ft category with its Office of Fair Trading contract and in 2004 in Leisure with Shakespeare’s Globe.

After his win in 2003 Douglas said: “It really is great recognition for our teams who work so hard and enthusiastically in what is becoming a regulation led profession. We’ll be back next year (indeed he was!). I recommend the programme to any contractor or in-house team that’s proud of its cleaning standards.”

Winner 2003
Best Cleaned Premises by a Contract Cleaning Company – Educational Establishment

After her win in 2003 Gillian Pugsley, Branch Manager for MITIE Cleaning (Southern) Ltd said:
“ Our Golden Service Award win has highlighted cleaning and hygiene putting it at the top of the agenda, precisely where it should be, which is very rewarding. Parents, pupils, governors and staff are now all taIking about it. I have never had a site where cleaning is discussed as much as it is at the South Downs College.
Our success is a three way partnership – the school invests in cleaning and maintenance, the students generally appreciate and respect this initiative and our team works hard to maintain standards.”

MITIE Cleaning (Southern) Ltd won again in 2004 in Educational/Public Buildings Sector with Hampton Court Palace. Their colleagues in the South West Division won C&M Offices Above 15,000 sqm with Nationwide House, Nationwide Building Society, Swindon.

Winner 2003
C&M Best Cleaned Premises by a Small Contract Cleaning Company

Mike Clemens of Burke & Clemens reported that the staff at the Mondial House Croydon site were thrilled. Following their win in 2003, he took the Award to show the 15 strong team and at the same time delivered a bottle of champagne to each one of them. Mike said: “The Awards ceremony is one day I will never forget, but sharing the success back at the site with the team was fantastic for all of us. There was a lot of excitement amongst the team – really good memorable moments and our opportunity for rewarding recognition for good teamwork.”
Burke & Clemens were back again in 2004 and achieved Finalist status for their contract at The Institute of Psychiatry.
